Comprehensive Wellness and Healthcare Access for Women in India: Addressing Critical Health Disparities, Malnutrition, a

The state of women's wellness in India is strongly impacted by social determinants, leading to persistent challenges in achieving equitable health outcomes.

  • Major Health Concerns: There is a high prevalence of Anemia and Chronic Energy Deficiency, often linked to malnutrition and gender-specific resource allocation within households. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like Cardiovascular Disease and various Cancers (breast and cervical) are also significant contributors to mortality.

  • Access Challenges: Women often utilize healthcare resources less frequently than men due to cultural norms, weaker bargaining power within the household, and the fear of social stigma, which may lead to underreporting of illnesses and delayed treatment.

  • Systemic Issues: A lack of standardized research and a bias toward studying male-pattern disease presentation contribute to the under-diagnosis and under-treatment of conditions that disproportionately affect women, such as certain autoimmune disorders and chronic pain conditions.
